Restaurant Review: Romano’s Macaroni Grill

PD (on the phone): “Yeah! I’m so happy for you!…”

On hanging up after about 5 mins…

PD: “Guess what?! She passed! I’m so happy today.”

VA: “Treat!”

PD: “O.K! I will treat you guys to lunch today. Anything you want, anywhere you want!”

Me (First looking bewildered at the sudden turn of events and then thinking out aloud): “Anything, anywhere…umm…lets see…Chillies? TGIF? Soto Soto?…”

And that thought process continued for a good fifteen minutes. We finally settled for Romano’s Macaroni Grill in Festival Waterfront Centre.

The mall is fantastic, the restaurant is amazing and the food is delectable! Romano’s serves authentic Italian food. Our order looked like this:

• Farfalle and mushrooms in Alfredo sauce (although the waiter assured us it was Ravioli with mushrooms)
• Primavera Pizza
• Bottle of still water

Although we didn’t want to plunder our friend just because she’s treating us to lunch, what we ordered was quite filling. The pasta in particular was delightful, so creamy. Aside from the mix up between Ravioli and Farfalle, the service was good. Before you place your order, the waiter introduces himself and writes down his name with crayons on a huge sheet of paper spread across the table (there’s no table cloth, just plain white paper!). Although I don’t get the purpose behind doing that, we wrote our glowing praises on the paper. No, they don’t frame and display it for other diners to see. I’m actually pretty sure that they had it thrown out, especially after the mess I created on the paper (by accidentally spilling sauce all over it).

The prices at Romano’s are very reasonable. A lunch or dinner once in a fortnight will not harm your purse strings.
